Curlew receives federal funds for the Title 1 program. Title 1 helps provide funding for teacher preparation and training, curriculum and instructional materials aligned with challenging state academic standards and helps provide additional qualified support for teachers to help meet the educational needs of our struggling learners. One requirement of this program is to share with our parents our annual district report card. Parents can access the report from OSPI's Website. On this you will learn about the demographics of our school and how our students did on the state assessment compared with other schools in the state.
A second requirement is to provide our parents with the opportunity to learn more about their child’s teachers’ training and credentials. At Curlew, we are proud of our teachers. They have continually worked hard to stay on top of the ever changing curricula and standards and are prepared to provide your child with a quality education. At any time you may ask:
Whether a teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,
Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees and majors or areas of concentration.
We also encourage our parents to inquire about our paraprofessionals working with their child in reading, writing or mathematics. We can tell you whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional, and whether she/he meets the state qualifications and licensing requirements.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking skills he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that our entire staff is highly skilled.
If you have any questions about your child’s assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact Mr. Ladiges at 779-4931.
